About Amira
My name is Amira Elgan, and my mission is to help you transform your life.
I'm a Board Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Healthy Lifestyle Author accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP); a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition; and certificated in Integrative Nutrition from Teachers College Columbia University in New York City.
I dedicate my life to organic healthy living and am passionate about sharing my knowledge, experience and expertise with anyone who wants to lead a truly organic healthy lifestyle.
I write and publish the Vegetarian Organic Blog and Vegetarian Organic Life (a popular electronic newsletter about organic healthy cooking and better living). I write the "Vegetarian Organic Living" column for Green Living Magazine, and other columns for additional publications. I also teach healthy cooking classes for Whole Foods Market's Salud! Cooking & Lifestyles School and Sur La Table Culinary Program.
Years ago, I worked as a top manager of some of the premier dining establishments in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Hollywood, including Mondrian, Bonaventure and Beverly Wilshire hotels, as well as catering manager for the University of California at Santa Barbara. I have created innovative, healthy recipes for more than 15 years.
I'm an educated yoga practitioner and healthy organic living and fitness expert with a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I live in Santa Barbara, California, and am currently writing a vegetarian organic cookbook. I'm married and have two sons, who are 25 and 19 years old.
